"title": "Backport status sub-fetcher timeout isolation to release-7.3",
"text": "This backports [#10791](https://github.com/apple/foundationdb/pull/10791) ([`22ddb8a92`](https://github.com/apple/foundationdb/commit/22ddb8a92d473aafb18f15c436bb8cce17e562ee)) to `release-7.3`. The async status backport in #13068 can still let coordinator DNS, blob-granule, or blob-restore sub-fetcher timeouts escape the status actor. That aborts status collection and can bubble the timeout to the cluster controller instead of returning the partial status document. While working on this, the agent highlighted that some of the blob granule timeout messages are not correctly propagated out, but it seems that this feature is not in main anymore, so I opted to not fix those issues here. #10791 is already on `release-7.4` and doesn't need a backport to that version. # Code-Reviewer Section The general pull request guidelines can be found [here](https://github.com/apple/foundationdb/wiki/FoundationDB-Commit-Process). "title": "Fix old-epoch backup worker cleanup after backup completion",
"text": "## Summary A partitioned backup can finish after recovery has selected backup workers for an older transaction-log generation but before those workers read the backup-start key. When the last active backup clears that key, the old-generation workers wait for a future backup instead of acknowledging completion. Their obsolete transaction-log generation remains retained, preventing full cluster recovery. Allow only workers with a finite old-generation range to exit when no backup is active. This uses the existing acknowledged worker-completion path so the obsolete generation can be retired. Current-generation workers continue waiting for future backups, and active and paused backups retain their existing behavior. ## Validation - `fdbserver_backupworker_test`. - `tests/slow/BackupAndRestore.toml` with fault injection and buggification. - `tests/slow/BackupCorrectnessPartitioned.toml` with fault injection and buggification.",

"title": "Add ipv6 support to docker container",
"text": "Added functionality for `fdb.bash` to support ipv6, provided the new env variable `FDB_IP_VERSION` is set to 6 (or any string containing 6, such as v6, ipv6, iwantipv6, etc. ) There is an unfortunate caveat of no dual stack support, as FDB coordinators are recognized by their IP+port and not their machineid, to the best of my knowledge. If I'm wrong and FDB does not double count a coordinator with both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses in the cluster file, I would be happy to add dual stack support to this. This was part of now-split-up #13822, with slightly more robust logic. # Changes ## IPv6 Support ### Issue Before now, `fdb.bash` would throw an error if `hostname -i` resolved to a v6 address, as it would not be encased in brackets. ### New Behavior Depending on the value of `FDB_IP_VERSION`, `fdb.bash` will try and find the machine's v4 or v6 address. IPv4 is the default pick. If `hostname -i` resolves to the correct IP version, that is used as the public IP (as before.) Otherwise, the first valid ip in `hostname -I` is used. This will prevent a dual stack container from erroring out if IPv6 is desired, as `hostname -i` seems to prefer the v4 address to the v6 if both are present. Otherwise, an error is thrown that no valid IP could be found. ## Enhanced FDB_COORDINATOR ip resolution ### Issue FDB Coordinator discovery always looks up IPv4 addresses, as `dig` by default searches for A records. It also doesn't respect the local `/etc/hosts` file. ### New Behavior Based on the value of `FDB_IP_VERSION`, fdb coordinator ip is discovered with either `getent ahostsv4` or `getent ahostsv6`. This will prefer the local hosts file if it has the name, otherwise it will try to reach a remote DNS server.",

"title": "documentation: update to sphinx 6.2.1 and remove setuptools",
"text": "I think setuptools really isn't needed here, I think it was added for an older version of python and pip. I'm not sure it really worked in this spot anyway: it's possible that someone may have had to install or update setuptools before pip could install some source package requirements here, but that would have to happen before the pip install of these requirements. So the first commit is my proposal to address https://github.com/apple/foundationdb/pull/13815 After that I tried to update the deps a bit. There's a good reason to update to sphinx 6.2.1 which is that older versions don't work with python-3.13+ but this update also required some other adjustments. The build container images already have sphinx-5.1.1 installed and you can see there was some struggle to get cmake to require the newer version. And the update required some tweaks to make our sphinx theme work the same. In addition to looking at the generated docs and clicking around, I diffed the full static site code, I'll post a summary of that tomorrow. All that said, I'd be happy to split out or trim down to just the minimal \"remove setuptools\", and stick with sphinx-5.1.1 for now.",

Please check each of the following things and check *all* boxes before accepting a PR. - [ ] The PR has a description, explaining both the problem and the solution. - [ ] The description mentions which forms of testing were done and the testing seems reasonable. - [ ] Every function/class/actor that was touched is reasonably well documented. ## For Release-Branches - [ ] This change/bugfix is a cherry-pick from the next younger branch (younger `release-branch` or `main` if this is the youngest branch) - [ ] There is a good reason why this PR needs to go into a release branch and this reason is documented (either in the description above or in a linked GitHub issue)",

"text": "Append Major.Minor to titles of release-notes pages so they better distinguish themselves. URLs do not change, they are based on filename. Consolidate pre-1.0 alpha and beta release notes into the 1.0 page (subjective 🤷) Latest release-notes-740 keep version-less title because of links to \"latest Release Notes\" elsewhere in the docs site that would be affected by the title change. -------- The main place these updated titles can be appreciated is in the Previous Releases page (which might only be linked from the entire site index anyway): Before: <img width=\"1166\" height=\"826\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-08-13 at 1 21 32 PM\" src=\"https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/9a247e5e-a1bf-45c7-8bbb-2c3692a98c26\" /> After: <img width=\"1187\" height=\"749\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-08-13 at 1 20 47 PM\" src=\"https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/a5a6fb7d-8123-4334-9a16-c328a5701698\" />",
